Greetings from Belize!

Nancy writes:
We arrived safely to Belize City via a 2 1/2 hour flight from Houston yesterday. We proceeded to board 2 vans along with 3000 pounds of luggage, filled with donated books, school supplies, and crafts for Holy Cross Anglican School. We drove through the former capital of Belize to the dock, where a water taxi delivered us to San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye.

We checked into The Tides Beach Resort (surely the nicest accommodations that Sr. EYC has ever had for their mission trips!). Francis Wilson, the Anglican missionary who started Holy Cross, told us all about the school while we dined on a late lunch of locally made pizza. We then walked about 5 minutes to Holy Cross and got a tour of the library/computer lab that we'll be helping construct. We also walked around the neighborhood of San Mateo, the neighborhood that borders the school, and where many of the kindergarden through 8th grade students live.

Dinner on our first nigt was served in classic Belizean time - taking over 2 hours! We dined on fresh fish for which the island is famous.
